Press release from event organizers:
This Saturday, Plugged In Publicity joins forces with local producers and artists to present EQUINOX at the Boiler Room.
The night’s lineup includes Live Animals, illanthropy and The Ghost Of. Music will begin at 9 p.m.
Live Animals is a culmination of all of life’s experiences, exploring new soundscapes and expanding the consciousness of sound. Between his West-coast hip hop influences and his entanglements in modern bass music, Live Animals creates a sound that transcends boundaries and blends genres, creating his own space on the map of the electronic dance music scene. With a background in percussion and music theory, Asheville native Josh Stone fuses melody and harmony to create pure sonic force.
Live Animals’ upcoming shows include opening sets for Cashmere Cat at the Masquerade in Atlanta on March 24, and for Random Rab at Asheville’s New Mountain on Apr. 23.
illanthropy is a collaborative movement aimed at promoting social, political, and self awareness through the medium of bass music. illanthropy uses the immense power of sound to create a conscious sonic experience. His fusion of heavy bass, lush soundscapes, and funky rhythms place him in the electronic dance scene as an act all his own. His music is reflective of a genre melting pot, with influences rooted in modern bass music from around the world.
The Ghost Of will open the showcase, laying the foundation of the night’s journey with a DJ set from 9 to 10 p.m. According to his bio, “The Ghost Of is a towel, fresh out of the dryer. It’s a relaxing head massage from your lover on a lazy Saturday morning. It’s finding twenty dollars in an old jacket. It’s that new car smell, yet even more so. But above all else, The Ghost Of is ten thousand spoons, when all you need is a knife.”
Doors open at 8:30 p.m., and the show will begin at 9 p.m. Tickets are $3.
