“Are You Smarter Than an Elementary Student?” fundraising event on May 21

“Are You Smarter Than An Elementary Student?” fundraising event on May 21st to benefit Children First/Communities In Schools

Which country has the largest border with the United States? Who wrote the children’s classic, Charlotte’s Web? If you can answer these questions, then you just might be smarter than an elementary student.

Trivia lovers can test their general knowledge, impress their friends and contribute to a local nonprofit at the fourth annual Children First/Communities In Schools (CF/CIS) “Are You Smarter Than an Elementary Student?” fundraising event on Thursday, May 21, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Cathedral of All Souls Parish Hall in Biltmore Village. Teams made up from individuals, businesses and organizations will answer questions on current events, pop culture, science, geography and more. There are fun prizes for the top winners!

The Bad Apples, from Buncombe County Schools, won the event for the third year in a row. The challenge has been raised to take this champion title away from them, as team recruitment is still open. For $250 per team and up to 6 members per team, you can claim ultimate bragging rights and win great prizes. Grab your local trivia team, your co-workers, book club members, Sunday school class and create a team. Costumes welcome!  RSVP for free childcare for families of team members. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with free light refreshments and local brews for a suggested donation. The game begins at 6:30 p.m. and goes until 8 p.m.

Prizes include: from Omni Grove Park Inn- dinner for two at Edison Kitchen and Ales, an overnight stay with breakfast, a round of golf and spa packages. Navitat Canopy Adventures is providing Ultimate zipline passes, NC Stage is offering tickets to their shows, the Barleycorn donated a certificate for brunch and expect more to come!

All proceeds will benefit Children First/Communities In Schools, an organization that believes all children should have the opportunity to meet their full potential, and helps children and their families meet their potential by providing services, education programming and public policy advocacy. Children First/CIS surrounds children with support in their school, neighborhood and policies.
