Smart Bets: Tedeschi-Trucks Band

It seems like blues-rock mega-outfit Tedeschi-Trucks Band, 11 members strong, must have played in Asheville before. And, in a way they have. Husband and wife duo Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi have, between them, made appearances at Bele Chere, Christmas Jam and various venues (dating back to when Trucks was a teen). But they've never played here in this iteration and, according to press, the band is taking this opportunity to "showcase the full force of TTB." And they'll do a lot of good in the process: $1 from each ticket sold for the band's Thursday, May 2 show at the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium goes to support MANNA Foodbank. The benefit is a partnership with FATE (Funding America Through Entertainment) and Oskar Blues Brewery. 8 p.m., $39/$49/$75. http://www.uscellularcenterasheville.com. Photo by Taylor Crothers
