Friday, May 3 is a big night for Asheville’s progressive arts scene. Satellite Gallery (55 Broadway St.) hosts the opening of Apopalypse, featuring new work from Peter Parpan, Alli Good, Andy Herod, Joti Marra Ramsey and Nick Turkette, “five artists working in a similar pop culture influenced style,” for a show that “attempts to speak to this restless feeling we have in art and a post industrial information based society,” writes gallery owner Bill Thompson. And Harvest Records (415 Haywood Road) hosts the latest sound-and-word experience from Age Cowboy, a collaboration between Xpress designer and artist Nathanael Roney, along with J Seger and Jaye Bartell (also of Xpress). The Deepening Blues promises “an inspired dialogue of image, sound and word,” and marks Roney’s first foray into painting.
