Information reported on WLOS:
Last night before 2 a.m., “black lives matter” was spray-painted across the nameplate of downtown Asheville’s Vance Monument.
The monument, dedicated to former governor and Civil War Confederate general Zebulon Vance, (and other Vance namesakes) have come under fire recently for the potential racial statement this honor makes.
The graffiti has since been cleared off of the monument and the Asheville Police Department has not made an arrest based on the vandalization.
