From the National Park Service:
BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY EVENING HIKE
Bringing Mountains-to-Sea
Join Parkway rangers on Thursday, September 5th at 7:00pm for an easy evening stroll starting from the third oldest river in the world. Learn about the geology and history, as well as the effects it has had on the area, chewing mountains to dust and taking them to the sea. Explore an interesting area that is so close to town!
Meet just north of the French Broad River Bridge (north of NC-191/Brevard Road intersection) on the Parkway. There is a gravel lot alongside the Mountains-to-Sea trail for parking. Bring water and good walking shoes. We also suggest wearing long pants and bug spray because of poison-ivy and mosquitoes. Be prepared for varying weather conditions, including evening rain.
Call (828) 298-5330, ext. 304 for details.
