Concerning almond milk: It might be interesting for people to check out “bee culture” in connection with the pollination of almond trees. Such pollination is usually accomplished by bees that have been trucked in from miles afar and then trucked out again. All growth between the trees is eradicated. Dandelion, one of the bees’ most favored plants, is a casualty of this eradication process.
In order to support such extensive almond tree culture — one among many — in drought-ridden California (globally, the largest almond-producing region), the water resources of the Colorado River have been rerouted, so to speak.
How can this situation be addressed as a consumer in a conscious and honorable manner?

from the article “Almond Milk is Not the Problem”
meat and dairy—the dairy you might be drinking if you weren’t consuming almond milk—require “an order of magnitude more water” to produce than almonds.

Consider the environmental cost of Mountain Xpress.
Consider the environmental cost of you.
This must be tongue-in-cheek.
as healthy as almond milk IS, I don’t worry one bit about the environmental cost…
