Self-described road dog Fred Eaglesmith is on a never-ending tour in his bio-fueled bus. His next stop? The Grey Eagle. The Canadian rocker will play songs from his 20th album release, Tambourine, a work heavily influenced by mid to late ‘60s rock ‘n’ roll a la Bob Dylan’s Blonde on Blonde. A songwriter’s songwriter, Eaglesmith is recognized by critics for his masterful lyricism as well as his dry wit and talent for storytelling onstage.
For fans of pie and do-gooding, it’s worth noting that Eaglesmith is also known to auction off a couple pies mid-show to raise money for Operation Smile, a children’s charity for cleft palate operations. Eaglesmith performs at the Grey Eagle Tuesday, Jan. 14 at 7 p.m. $15/$18. thegreyeagle.com.
