Serafina and the Black Cloak is a spooky mystery-thriller from Disney Hyperion set at Biltmore Estate. It tells the story of a brave and unusual 12-year-old girl who lives secretly in the basement of the Vanderbilt mansion, and the mystery that only she can solve. The book is written for middle grade audiences (ages 8-12), but the story’s mix of history, fantasy and adventure makes it appealing to adult readers too.
Since its nationwide release in July, Serafina has been on the bestsellers lists of the New York Times, Publisher’s Weekly, USA TODAY and Barnes & Noble, and was voted No. 1 Middle Grade Book of 2015 on Goodreads.
Publisher Disney Hyperion has given the go-ahead for two more Serafina books. Look for Book 2 in the series, Serafina and the Twisted Staff, in August 2016.
