Rep. Nathan Ramsey: I will file for re-election

Announcement from N.C. Rep. Nathan Ramsey

On Monday and Tuesday of this week I’m attending the Institute for Emerging Issues Forum at NC State University, the topic of this year’s forum is “Teachers and the Great Economic Debate.” When I return home on Wednesday, I plan to file for re-election to the NC House of Representatives. It’s been a tremendous honor to represent the people of Buncombe County in the NC General Assembly. As your Representative, I’ve worked to help improve our economy and make our schools the best possible. During the past year, I’ve visited many businesses, classrooms, and listened to your ideas on how we can move forward. The focus of my legislative work has been to focus on solutions instead of partisan politics. Legislation that I’ve sponsored has assisted GE Aviation in locating their new facility in Buncombe County, helped expedite the Interstate 26 Connector, provided more funding for technology for Buncombe County Schools, and allowed Buncombe County to save over $10 million in the AB Tech expansion project while providing more space for student learning. I’ve worked on a bipartisan basis to provide scholarships for students who want to become teachers, expand broadband connectivity, and grow NC agriculture. And I’ve been an independent voice in Raleigh, voting against my party when I believed it wasn’t in the best interest of my district. Most notably, I was one of a few Republicans to vote against the state budget due to my concerns regarding K-12 funding and policy. If re-elected, I will work to bring more higher educational opportunities to Asheville building upon the UNC School of Pharmacy at UNC Asheville and Engineering at Western Carolina University’s Biltmore Park campus, continue the work to make NC the best state in the nation to start and grow your business, and advocating for final completion of the Interstate 26 connector. Much progress has been made and NC’s unemployment rate has declined significantly. Our community is blessed to have the lowest unemployment rate of any metropolitan area in the state. But there are still many people who are struggling to support their family despite working as hard as they can. My job isn’t complete until every person in our community has the opportunity to go as far as their hard work and dreams will allow. That’s why I’m running for re-election! Look forward to hearing from you on how we can make Buncombe County and NC and better place to live, work, and raise a family! My mobile phone (828)768-3216 is posted on the General Assembly website and is available for anyone to contact me anytime.
