From The Arc of Buncombe County
Put on your running shoes, on March 8 at 9:00am, The Arc of Buncombe County will host their annual 5K March Run Walk at Vance Monument Pack Square in Downtown Asheville.
“This event emphasizes the importance of exercise while educating the public about families who are dealing with relatives that have learning or developmental disabilities,” states Terry Bellamy, Executive Director.
T-shirts are included with the registration price and timing chip. The cost of registration will be $25 before March 1st or pay $35 and get a ticket to the Noon Southern Conference Basketball Game. Those who sign up early can pick up their registration and packet on Friday, March 7 at Second Gear, 444 Haywood Rd, Asheville, NC. Registration, the day of the event is from 7:30am- 8:30am. The fee will be $30 or $40 with SoCon Noon Ticket. After the run, join us for the award ceremony and participate in the Downtown Basketball Dribble. Prizes will be given. The Arc advocates for and serves people with intellectual or developmental disabilities (I/DD), including Down syndrome, autism, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders, cerebral palsy and other diagnoses. The Arc has a network of over 700 chapters across the country promoting and protecting the human rights of people with I/DD and actively supporting their full inclusion and participation in the community throughout their lifetimes and without regard to diagnosis.
