July 26, 2016Asheville in the Running for Esurance Home Field Advantage Award
ASHEVILLE, N.C. – As the second half of the season gets underway, Minor League Baseball and Esurance today unveiled the first annual Esurance Home Field Advantage Award. One Minor League Baseball team in each of the 14 leagues will receive the award based on the highest percentage capacity of the ballpark during the 2016 season.
Asheville Tourists fans are encouraged to continue to support the Tourists in this friendly competition by attending games in the home stretch of the regular season. The winning teams will be announced in September and honored at the 2016 Baseball Winter Meetings™ in National Harbor, Maryland this December. A celebration for the hometown fans of each winning team will also take place at their respective ballparks at the start of the 2017 season.
“Providing families and residents of Western North Carolina a special and affordable place to make memories together and experience America’s Past Time is what the Asheville Tourists are all about,” says Tourists General Manager Larry Hawkins. “Making McCormick Field a place for Tourists fans to come together is of the upmost importance to our organization and our fans are the sole reason we are in the running for this prestigious award.”
The Tourists’ promotional calendar is packed with fun-filled events to entertain every kind of fan. Each day of the weeks has something for Tourists Fans to enjoy. From Post-game Fireworks shows to premium giveaway items, McCormick Field is poised for a great stretch run in the final two months of the 2016 season.
