Canadian guitar virtuoso Don Alder is back for another show in Asheville!
Don Alder’s music is all original and combines elements of folk, roots, blues, bluegrass, jazz and world music. Don Alder has been described as the ‘renaissance man’ of acoustic guitar. Often referred to as Vancouver’s “best kept secret”, he has toured internationally, gaining global acclaim and winning numerous awards. He plays with a passion and skill that caused Carly Rae Jepsen to describe him as ‘the MOST amazing guitarist… still shocked by (his) talent!’Don Alder will perform songs from various albums, including new songs from his new album “Armed & Dangerous” (release date: July 2015) and his upcoming all-vocal album “Down the Rabbit Hole” (release date: March 2016).
He will be performing all original material including fiery guitar instrumentals that will put you on the edge of your seat and his singing with a voice that will soothe your soul. One could describe his music as “fusion folk, blending pop and instrumental music” while others say “new world fusion with a hinge of bluegrass”. Alder describes it as “honest music from the heart”.
His music is a unique combination of deeply textured melody and story. Lyrical and compelling, his original songs are notes of exploration – some passionate and haunting, some hard-driven, others light and teasing. In quiet pieces or pushing right to the edge, Don’s phenomenal finger style playing and rich voice captivate.
Don Alder, often referred to as the “Hendrix” of Acoustic Guitar is a Multi-Award Winning Acoustic guitarist from Canada. Hot off his recent Europe Tour, Alder continues to “Wow” audiences around the world with his “jaw dropping” one man band act. His singing is soulful and heartfelt and his story telling and guitar playing is highly entertaining.
Alder’s other recent activities include performing at the 2014 All Star Guitar Night, promo video shoot with the Ernie Ball String company, hand selected by Lee Ritenour to the judge advisory panel for the global Six String Theory competition.
