“Arts Across NC” is a new podcast series celebrating the rich history of the arts across North Carolina. The free podcasts are sponsored by the North Carolina Arts Council to observe its 50th anniversary as a state agency.
The podcast series kicks off with a lively conversation about what “arts for all” has meant to the state. N.C. Arts Council Executive Director Wayne Martin discusses how a robust statewide arts infrastructure evolved.
“For 50 years the North Carolina Arts Council has been guided by the belief that the arts uplift individuals, transform our communities and enhance the reputation of our state,” said Martin. “As we go forward, we will strive to continue to live up to the ideal that brought us into existence in 1967 — “arts for all citizens.”
The interview is conducted by Sandra Davidson, the Arts Council’s 50th anniversary coordinator.

Celebration of the 50th anniversary of the agency began in March and concludes with the presentation of the North Carolina Heritage Awards in May 2018.
