The School of Inquiry and Life Science at Asheville continues to rank as one of the Top 10 high schools in North Carolina, according to the U.S. News and World Report.
Evaluating over 20,500 public high schools, the online magazine published its latest rankings on Wednesday.
U.S. News identifies schools that best serve all students and assesses how prepared they are for college-level work.
Selection criteria is based off student performance on state-required tests, Advanced Placement course participation as well as its four-year cohort graduation rate.
96% of SILSA students take AP courses, while the Class of 2017’s graduation rate was 93%.
The state’s four-year cohort graduation rate for 2017 was 86.5%.
U.S. News additionally ranked the 5,948 highest-scoring schools as gold, silver or bronze depending on their College Readiness Index.
SILSA was the only Western North Carolina school to receive a gold medal ranking, and one of only 17 across the state.
When compared to schools across the nation, SILSA ranks in the top 1% at #225.
