Rarely Theatre presents Lisa Peterson and Denis O’Hare’s one-man show, An Iliad: an adaptation of The Iliad as translated by Robert Fagles. Focusing primarily on Hector and Achilles, it studies humanity’s addiction to violence on a global scale and in our daily lives. It runs at 35below for the first three weekends in April: opening April 5th and running through the 21st with performances Thursdays-Saturdays at 7:30PM and Sunday matinees at 2:30PM. The setting is simple: the empty theater. The time is now: the present moment. The lone figure onstage is a storyteller – quite possibly Homer, or possibly one of the many bards who followed in his footsteps – fated to witness all the wars throughout all of history … and speak that fateful story of carnage and loss for all time.

This is Rarely Theatre’s fifth production following last year’s emotionally charged Skylight. Every production of Rarely Theatre delves into what it truly means to be human, what we are capable of, and how we carry that throughout our daily lives. Since their maiden voyage with David Auburn’s Proof, Rarely Theatre has continually earned the acclaim of audiences and critics for its dedication to raw, honest storytelling.
