Press release from N.C. Department of Transportation:
A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation will have nightly closures on westbound Interstate 40 from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. Friday through Sunday night to perform concrete repairs.
All lanes will remain open during daylight hours. Southern Road and Bridge will close the two inside lanes starting one mile west of the I-40 interchange with I-26/I-240 (exit 46) and ending at the interchange with U.S. 19/23 (exit 44).
This work is heavily weather dependent, and the dates could change. Additional closures will be needed this fall to complete the $3.9 million project.
State officials remind motorists to obey detour signs, watch for construction information, stay alert and obey posted speed limits, especially through work zones.
