Press release from Ziprik PR:
Mills River Presbyterian Church, locally known for hosting its annual Puzzlefests each January, is now making jigsaw puzzles available free to the public. The church is hosting a Puzzle Swap so that people can trade in their used puzzles and take new ones to challenge their skills.
“During the quarantine associated with COVID-19, jigsaw puzzle usage has been a popular way to pass the time,” says Kathy Ziprik, elder at Mills River Presbyterian Church. “Many of our church members have contributed a variety of puzzles that we’re happy to share with the local community.”
The Puzzle Swap is open to the public on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9am to 1pm. Bins of puzzles are placed outside the church entrance via the back parking lot and are clearly marked. People are asked to wear face masks while picking up and dropping off puzzles.
“The bins are available outside to promote social distancing and safety,” says Ziprik. “People are invited to stop by and take a puzzle or two, and drop off any puzzles they no longer wish to keep.”
Puzzles available in the swap bins include children and adult puzzles, starting at 50 pieces and going up to 2,000 pieces. While in the church parking lot, people are also encouraged to visit the Little Free Library to borrow children and adult books.
“Our church has become known for our Puzzlefests over the past 11 years,” says Ziprik. “We all hope and pray for a solution to the current pandemic so that all of our church activities may continue. In the meantime, the Puzzle Swap and the Little Free Library are ways for us to remain connected to the community and offer people resources they may find of value during these challenging times.”
Mills River Presbyterian Church is located at 10 Presbyterian Church Road in Mills River, accessible from Haywood Road or Highway 280. The church is hosting Sunday church services at 10am via Zoom. For more information, call 828-891-7101.
