From the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office:

The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office has recently received numerous reports concerning fraudulent Bitcoin transactions and scams.  The scam currently being reported involves the threat of social security numbers being compromised with the victims being told they owe money to the IRS or other entities.  The victims are being told to remove all money from their bank accounts and deposit it into Bitcoin ATMs for safekeeping until the social security information is corrected.  No Federal, State or Local government institutions utilize Bitcoin or Blockchain transactions to conduct business.
