A-B Tech offers new scholarship for students impacted by COVID-19

Press release from Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College:

A-B Tech Community College has created the A-B Tech Works Scholarship for students who have experienced job loss or reduced income due to COVID-19.  Students who enroll in A-B Tech’s upcoming Spring Semester are eligible to receive up to $3,000 each.

Scholarships will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis for the Spring Semester only and will be awarded only after applicants apply and register at A-B Tech and submit the scholarship application and unemployment verification. A-B Tech’s Spring Semester begins January 11.

“This is the perfect time for students to return to college to train for new careers,” said A-B Tech President John Gossett. “We hope this scholarship will help new students and entice those who may have left college before finishing to return.”

Funding for the scholarship was made available to A-B Tech and other colleges by Congress under Section 18004(a)(2) of the Education Stabilization Fund of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (“CARES”) Act.
