Asheville announces City Council Meeting Tuesday, June 28, 2022 returns to Council Chamber with budget adoption

Press release from the City of Asheville:

On June 28, City Council will meet in-person in Council Chambers, second floor of City Hall, 70 Court Plaza, Asheville, N.C.

Persons wishing to speak live at the meeting will be required to attend in person, and are required to sign up at the door.

Parking Available
Free parking will be available in the two city employee parking lots along Marjorie Street after 4:30 p.m. the day of the meeting (55 Valley Street and 17 Marjorie Street).

Face Coverings in Public Spaces
Face coverings are no longer required in public indoor spaces. For City of Asheville buildings, we will no longer require face coverings. However, public health officials still strongly recommend wearing them especially in crowded indoor spaces.

To be clear, the public will no longer be required to wear face coverings in City of Asheville buildings but will be encouraged to wear them.

Presentations at the Meeting
For those wishing to make a slide or PowerPoint presentation at a formal meeting of City Council, the presentation must be submitted to Maggie Burleson at mburleson@ashevillenc.gov by Noon the day before the formal meeting.

How to Participate Remotely
To accommodate those who do not yet feel secure attending in person, or those whose are precluded from attending because of schedules or other personal factors, City Council will continue to engage with those members of our community using the following options for participation:

  1. Remote comments via email (AshevilleCityCouncilJune282022@PublicInput.com) or voicemail (855-925-2801, meeting code 4592) will continue to be accepted and reviewed by City Council prior to the meeting so long as they are received by 9:00 a.m. on June 28.
  2. The live meeting will be streamed on the City’s YouTube Channel which can be accessed through the YouTube icon on the front page of the City’s website or via the livestream at the bottom of this page.
  3. The live meeting will be available on Charter/Spectrum channel 193.
  4. You may listen to the meeting through via phone (855-925-2801, meeting code 4592).
  5. Finally, the public can communicate with the Council by emailing them directly at any time – ashevillenccouncil@ashevillenc.gov.
