Press release from CREATE Bridges WNC:
NC State Extension together with Western Carolina University, Southwestern Commission, and SCC’s Small Business Center, have worked through the CREATE BRIDGES-WNC initiative to design a free online course to help business owners in the WNC retail, hospitality, and tourism sectors, as they face staffing shortages and other challenges. This course, called the Got Your Back Academy, is a free opportunity for businesses to learn from industry experts in a user-friendly online format.
In the Got Your Back Academy online course, business owners will learn effective leadership strategies, including how to find and keep the right employees, how to offer affordable benefits, how to handle challenging customers and employees as well as ways to improve their workplace environment. This course offers tools that employers can immediately put to use in their business. Industry experts bring their own expertise and resources. They address what keeps our business owners up at night and offer new ways to maneuver the current workplace challenges.
At the completion of the course, employers will become Got Your Back Recognized Businesses. A recognized Got Your Back Business is one who invests time and energy to provide their employees with a successful workplace experience. In other words, these businesses have their employees’ backs!
The Got Your Back Academy was hosted as an in-person event in Sylva in April 2022. Now online, it is the first of many workforce and business development strategies being launched through the CREATE BRIDGES initiative. More information on these strategies is coming soon, but all retail, hospitality, and tourism businesses should check out the Got Your Back Online Academy now as well as mark their calendars for the WeSpeakWNC Retail, Hospitality, and Tourism Workforce Conference on February 27 and 28, 2023.
Employers can register NOW for the Got Your Back Online Academy at https://gybacademy.thinkific.com/
