News Release from the Asheville Police Department:
Asheville Police Department officers responded to Bingham Rd. yesterday evening at 7:19 PM for a report of an 18-year-old who had been shot in the face. Officers located the victim lying on the ground and were able to secure the scene and facilitate evacuation to Emergency Medical Services. The victim received treatment and was stabilized at Mission Hospital.
Forensic Technicians and Detectives soon arrived and were able to recover important physical evidence. This and other information lead to a juvenile being charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
So far in 2023 there have been 17 people injured or killed by firearms in Asheville.
Detectives are continuing to investigate and locate the juvenile offender who fled the scene before officers arrived.
