Girls on the Run WNC (GOTR WNC) is celebrating the return of Spring with the start of the Spring season across the region. This season over 220 girls in Western North Carolina are developing skills to better prepare them for the challenges of adolescence through GOTR’s research-based curriculum which inspires participants to be joyful, healthy, and confident. The Spring season is presented by Hunter Subaru with support from the Run828 Foundation.
“We are incredibly excited to kick off the spring season of Girls on the Run here in Western North Carolina,” said Nicole Lowery, Executive Director of Girls on the Run WNC. “Each season brings the opportunity for our teams and superstar coaches to provide girls in Western North Carolina a supportive and empowering environment where they can discover their limitless potential and soar to new heights.”
The season ends with a celebratory 5K. Completing the AdventHealth GOTR 5k instills a sense of confidence through accomplishment that will last a lifetime.
Girls on the Run WNC invites members of the community to lace up their shoes and enjoy the FUN and celebrate with our participants at the AdventHealth GOTR 5k. The event will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at Tanger Outlets, Asheville. Registration and festivities open at 8:00 AM and the 5K starts at 9:30 AM.
The AdventHealth GOTR 5k is a family-friendly, non-timed event that is open to the general public. Proceeds from the 5K support GOTR WNC’s promise that no girl is turned away from the program due to family finances. Individuals interested in participating as a community runner or volunteer can go to www.gotrwnc.org/5k.
