New study: Asheville #3 of thriving college towns Americans flocking to in 2024

Press release from Green Flag Digital:

Small towns bolstered by the presence of local universities may be worried about the murmurings of faltering enrollment counts. But, in some college towns, there’s promising news: new residents want to move in, and they aren’t just college kids.

In fact, North Carolina is home to 5 cities among this year’s 34 thriving college towns Americans want to move to, with 3 of those in the top 5 overall, and Asheville ranking right at the top of the list at #3 — with 2-times more searches for moves in than out!

2. Hickory, NC – 2.17 in-to-out move ratio
3. Asheville, NC – 2.00
4. Wilmington, NC – 1.93
20. Raleigh, NC – 1.43
28. Durham, NC – 1.32

The study comes as college swings back into session, and relocation company moveBuddha wanted to find out which college towns inundated with new students this September have actually been welcoming a swarm of new residents throughout this year, too.
