ArtSpace Charter School has, as its name suggests, a kindergarten through eighth grade curriculum centered around the visual and performing arts. So it's fitting, when raising funds, to put on a one-of-a-kind evening of local music and comedy. The annual ArtSpace Cabaret — now in its sixth year — features NPR theme composer BJ Leiderman, instrumental duo Ahleuchatistas, bluegrass collective Buncombe Turnpike, singer-songwriters Dave Desmelik and Scott Raines, torch singer Vendetta Crème and local folk act Mountain Friends. Comedy group LYLAS showcases a musical sketch and improv troupe Reasonably Priced Babies (pictured) emcees. A silent auctions rounds out the night. The cabaret takes place at Isis Restaurant & Music Hall on Thursday, March 20, from 6-9:30 p.m. $20 per ticket/$35 pair. isisasheville.com. Photo by Chris Cassels
