Ahleuchatistas’ music is something akin to sonic parkour, a race of immense speed and skill, physical prowess, mental fortitude and ninja-like reflexes. It's also about the onstage symbiosis of Shane Perlowin (guitar) and Ryan Oslance (percussion), a duo refined and synthesized over a decade of experimentation, exploration, touring and recording. Asheville has known this band through the years and lineup changes, but the rest of the world is just catching on — especially since the release of last year's critically acclaimed Heads Full of Poison, and the band's jaw dropping Moogfest performance. They'll play a special hometown show (with guest Shenzhen) at Isis on Wednesday, June 19. 9 p.m., $7. http://www.isisasheville.com. Photo by Courtney Chappell

Xpress needs help, too. We hope you’ll consider signing up to be a member of Xpress. For as little as $5 a month — the cost of a craft beer or kombucha — you can help keep local journalism strong. It only takes a moment.
