Local singer-songwriter Alex Krug has been having a big year. With her band (Kevin Lampson on upright bass, Rachel Gramig on harmonizing vocals, Kyle Samples on electric guitar), she's opened for Donna the Buffalo and Erin McKeown, and released new album, Divers. Krug, a Maryland transplant, grew up in a family of blacksmiths. "This unique upbringing as well as time spent in the forest, rivers, hilly farmlands and state park nearby undoubtedly helped cultivate a style that has been described as 'woods Americana,'" says a press release. That earthiness remains at the heart of the Alex Krug Combo. They play Isis Music Hall on Friday, Sept. 27. Ten Cent Orchestra also performs. 8 p.m., $8. isisasheville.com.
