If your living room is looking a little shabby, or if you’re an interior design aficionado looking to update your entire home, Grace Bonney has the answer. She helps average people and die-hard enthusiasts adorn their dwellings with style and grace through her popular blog Design*Sponge. She’s been posting stunning photos and crafty DIY projects since 2004, all in an effort to help anyone and everyone improve their abode.
Asheville is lucky to host one of her coveted parties and workshops on Tuesday, Oct. 25 at Malaprop’s. She’ll be showing off her new book Design*Sponge at Home, a stunning 400-page collection of photos and projects. It’s designed for all budgets and styles, whether you prefer the simplicity of two chairs and a coffee table or want to go all out with a dramatic dinning room for your swankiest of friends.
The party is free and open to the public and will begin at 7 p.m. There will be drinks, treats and design-related fun. The event will benefit the I Have a Dream Foundation of Asheville, which helps low-income students pursue higher education. A workshop will proceed the party at 6 p.m. and will feature a stamping project from the DIY chapter of her book. Only 30 tickets are available for the workshop, so it’s never too early to buy a $45 ticket (which includes supplies and a signed copy of the book). If you’re one of the lucky participants, bring your own tote, clothing or fabric to stamp.
To find out more about the Oct. 25 event, and to purchase workshop tickets, visit www.malaprops.com or call 254-6734.
