We’ve been keeping you posted on the progress of longtime Asheville musician Woody Wood’s kickstarter campaign to raise $9,000 to produce a new album.
Facebook and Twitter were buzzing today: Would he make it? Kickstarter is an all-or-nothing approach: If the goal wasn’t hit, Wood wouldn’t get any of the money that was pledged. At around 1:30 p.m., he needed about $800 to make it. As of now, and ahead of schedule, he hit the $9,000 mark. And beyond!
We’re thrilled. Wood’s a helluva talent, an amazing songwriter, a guitar maniac and the guy lives and breathes music. Congratulations!
Thanks for reading through to the end…
We share your inclination to get the whole story. For the past 25 years, Xpress has been committed to in-depth, balanced reporting about the greater Asheville area. We want everyone to have access to our stories. That’s a big part of why we've never charged for the paper or put up a paywall.
We’re pretty sure that you know journalism faces big challenges these days. Advertising no longer pays the whole cost. Media outlets around the country are asking their readers to chip in. Xpress needs help, too. We hope you’ll consider signing up to be a member of Xpress. For as little as $5 a month — the cost of a craft beer or kombucha — you can help keep local journalism strong. It only takes a moment.
Yeah Woody!
Congrats Woody. Looking forward to hearing the finished product!
Congratulations Woody! Can’t wait to hear that album.
This is great news!
Local Super-MC and bearded rapper Adam Strange (GFE) is also utilizing kickstarter to kickstart his new album’s production costs:
