Get into the Moogfest spirit with a glass of Moog Filtered Ale, which will be available on tap in various locations throughout this weekend’s festivities. Moog Ale will flow at the Asheville Civic Center, the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium, the Orange Peel, the Bier Garden and, interestingly enough, at the Renaissance Asheville Hotel. According to Michelle Moog-Koussa, The Bob Moog Foundation’s executive director, the special American pale ale will also be sold at Greenlife Grocery and Bruisin’ Ales, which have both received a shipment of bottles of the Moog brew.
In May of 2010, Asheville Brewing Company partnered with the Moog Foundation to create an ale commemorating electronic music mastermind Bob Moog, inventor of the Moog synthesizer. Thanks, Aiyanna, for spreading the brew word.
I talked to one of ABC’s brewers yesterday, and he said they were sending the Moog Filtered Ale out as fast as they could keg it.
It’s $5 per pint at the Civic Center, which has more than 30 kegs for the weekend. You’ll also have to buy a wristband at $2 per night or $5 for the weekend.
The 22-ounce bottles should sell quickly. Word on the street is that people are holding onto the bottles as colllectibles given the cool label (designed by Asheville local Phil Cheney).
Enjoy the Moog!
