This Sunday, Mar. 4, poets Destiny Dorozan Kappa, Ava Leavell Haymon and Kim Garcia will read at the monthly Poetrio series at Malaprop’s Bookstore and Cafe (55 Haywood St.). Destiny Dorozan Kappa, a Mars Hill ACCESS (Accelerated Credit/Continuing Education/Summer Schoo) student, and read from her new chapbook Emergence. Novelist and poet Ava Leavell Haymon will read from her collection Kitchen Heat, a book that aims to capture “women’s language the charm and bite of domestic life.” Kim Garcia has recieved numerous awards for her work, and is the author of the collection Madonna Magdalene. The readings are free and begin at 3 p.m.
