Evergreen Community Charter School awarded Specialized Foundation school bike program grant
The Specialized Foundation announced the nine schools nationwide that were selected out of a pool of 200 applicants to receive a grant to begin the cycling program, Riding For Focus, starting in Fall 2016. Riding for Focus is the cycling program developed by The Specialized Foundation that integrates cycling into physical education classes as a way to help students in the classroom.

APD conducting rapid deployment training at Isaac Dickson School
The Asheville Police Department, in partnership with the Asheville Fire Department and Buncombe County EMS, are participating in a rapid deployment exercise at the current Isaac Dickson Elementary School (90 Montford Avenue) today, July 12th, and tomorrow, July 13th, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. During this exercise officers, firefighters and emergency medical technicians will be using radio channels to communicate.
