Press release from Smoky Mountain Toy Run:
This Saturday, November 6th marks the forty first anniversary of the Smoky Mountain Toy Run. The police escorted Toy Run is a motorcycle parade starting at the Kearfott Corporation parking lot at 2858 US Hwy 70 in Black Mountain, and traveling via US Hwy 70 to City/County Plaza in downtown Asheville.
For 41 years motorcyclists have gathered to help ensure that every child in our community can have a Merry Christmas. All proceeds benefit Eblen Charities Saint Nicholas Project.
Gates open at Kearfott at 10 am and the parade starts at 1pm. Cost is $15 cash or a new toy worth at least $15 per person. In addition to motorcycles there will also be a lane available at the beginning to allow other vehicles to drive through and make a donation.
The Smoky Mountain Toy Run is the oldest Toy Run in North Carolina and one of the oldest in the United States. More information can be found at www.smokymountaintoyrun.com or on our Facebook page.
