Asheville-area boy gets national attention over bullying

Thousands of supporters and national media outlets are rallying behind a local boy who says all he wants is to carry a small backpack featuring his favorite pony.

Candler resident Noreen Bruce came forward last week with the claim that her 9-year-old son, Grayson Bruce, was prevented from carrying his “My Little Pony” backpack, which he used as his lunchbox, because administrators told him it “triggered bullying.”
