AC-T: Mission to lay off employees

Here’s an excerpt from the Asheville Citizen-Times:

In a letter to employees, Mission Health President and CEO Dr. Ron Paulus says the hospital is laying off some employees as part of an effort to reduce costs.

The letter details a number of things the hospital is doing to cut costs and says “there will be some caregivers (fewer than 70) who are nonetheless impacted by a job loss.”

“When even one caregiver loses his or her job, it is devastating so our hearts are with those caregivers and their families. For any job elimination, we will work hard to find an alternative role that is appropriate for the skills and experience of that individual,” the letter states.

The letter, which was dated Monday, was addressed to the Mission board, caregivers and physicians.
