Acting coach J.D. Lewis offers free business-of-acting workshop Monday, Aug. 20 at Magnetic Field

J.D. Lewis, founder of The Actors Lab, which has offices in Los Angeles and Charlotte and soon Asheville, will conduct a free workshop on the business of acting in Asheville on August 20, 7-9 p.m. at The Magnetic Field, 372 Depot Street in Asheville. Reservations are required. Contact 310-621-3900 for more information.

The workshop will cover targeting agents, targeting casting directors, creating projects, networking and the craft.

In addition, Lewis, will videotape the workshop live as part of a DVD series he’s producing, entitled “Secrets of a Working Actor.”

Lewis, an internationally acclaimed acting coach, will open an Actors Lab studio at Nourish and Flourish, 347 Depot Street, Suites 201, in Asheville in the River Arts District, beginning September 3. He has worked on shows such as Friends, Suddenly Susan and ER, and worked with actors who have been nominated or won Academy Awards, Emmys, Tonys, SAG Awards and Golden Globes.
