Additional Charges on Nathaniel Elijah Dixon Filed

Asheville, NC (May 16, 2016): The Asheville Police Department has charged Nathaniel Elijah Dixon with 1st Degree Murder of an Unborn Child. Dixon was taken into custody in Columbus, Ohio on the evening of Thursday, May 12th and charged with 1st Degree Murder, Attempted 1st Degree Murder and Child Abuse resulting in Serious Bodily Injury for the murder of Candace Elaine Pickens and attempted murder of her son, Zachaeus Latese Waters.

In an autopsy on Friday afternoon the Medical Examiner confirmed that Candace Pickens was pregnant at the time of her death. The Asheville Police Department would like to convey our sincerest sympathy to the family of Candace Pickens. We ask that their privacy please be respected during this very difficult time.

Dixon remains in the custody of the Columbus Police Department. At this time no additional information is available on regarding this incident.
