Press release from American Vinyl Co:
Asheville, NC 23 June 2021. American Vinyl Co’s new location on the South Slope in downtown Asheville is now open. American Vinyl Co will be having a grand opening for their new location on July 10th. The public is invited to celebrate and experience the world’s only instant record shop on July 10th from 1-8pm at 217 Coxe Ave STE C Asheville, NC 28801 (Above Open Hearts Art Center). The grand opening includes free live-to-vinyl recording sessions in the American Sound Truck, a mobile 1950s-themed recording studio, from 3-6pm and live music from 6-8pm.
American Vinyl Co has moved from a quaint studio to a 4800 sq ft warehouse. The extra space is not wasted—the location features a newly-built bar made of 1930’s radios, a growing audio museum, and a curated selection of used vinyl. The intimate new sound stage will host live music throughout the year presented by the Lonesome Station Music Series. The bar features a rotating selection of local and affordable beers as well as the one-of-a-kind ability to order your own custom record.
“We built the space to be a music and vinyl playground,” said American Vinyl Co Founder Ryan Schilling. “Making the medium more interactive was our goal.”
Most vinyl record production takes place in studios or manufacturing plants and isn’t accessible to the general public. American Vinyl Co aims to make vinyl production and collection accessible to everyone, musicians and non-musicians alike.
“We can help artists with their short run vinyl, record pressing, or recording,” Schilling said, “but we also offer services anybody can enjoy, including our new service Vinyl To Go.”
Vinyl To Go is a newly-created, innovative service offering guests the ability to choose from a list of pre-recorded songs by local and regional artists— engineers will make guests a 7” record on the spot.
American Vinyl Co’s customers use their services for traditional record production and various non-traditional applications of the vinyl record medium including: wedding vows, karaoke, podcasts, kids talking or singing, comedy, and poetry. The American Sound Truck also gives guests the ability to sing into a vintage microphone and walk out with a record.
“We are excited to help Asheville and other neighboring areas navigate the world of vinyl,” said Schilling. “No matter how small or large the project.”
