APD investigating two drive-by shootings of occupied homes, seeks public’s help

Asheville police are investigating two drive-by shootings in which someone shot multiple rounds into an occupied west Asheville home twice in one weekend. Thankfully, no one was injured; only property damage has been reported at this time.

In the first incident, officers responded to a residence near the 40 block of Huffman Road to investigate reports of gun discharge around 6:13 a.m. on Oct. 22. When officers arrived, the suspect was no longer on the scene. Officers located the residence struck by gunfire. While canvassing the residence, officers located 14 shell casings and damage from the gunshots to the front of the home and interior walls.

In the second incident, officers responded to the same residence around 6:17 a.m. on Oct. 23 to investigate reports of gun discharge. When officers arrived, the suspect was no longer on scene. As officers canvassed the residence, they located 14 shell casings along with damage from the gunshots to the front of the home and exterior wall.

APD detectives are asking for the public’s help.
