UPDATED: Lamar Kelly in custody and awaiting extradition to NC

UPDATE May 6, 2020 from the Asheville Police Department:

Lamar Kelly was located in New York and taken into custody this morning. He is currently being held and awaiting extradition back to North Carolina.

The Asheville Police Department is requesting assistance to locate Lamar Kelly, of Asheville. On Sunday, Oct. 20, at approximately 1:00 a.m., the Asheville Police Department responded to the One Stop (495 Haywood Road) after reports of a victim suffering from non-life threatening stab wounds. Kelly entered the parking lot, approached the victim, and stabbed him twice. Kelly fled in a 2005 black Nissan Maxima with NC tag FLL-7393.

Kelly has outstanding warrants for Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury, Driving While License Revoked, and a stop sign violation.

Kelly is described as a black male, 33 years of age, 5’11”, and approximately 275 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. Please exercise extreme caution and contact 9-1-1 immediately as Kelly is considered armed and dangerous.
