APD responds to fatal shooting

Press release from Asheville Police Department:

(ASHEVILLE, N.C. – July 31, 2017) –  On Sunday, 7/30/2017, at 10:37 pm; Officers with the Asheville Police Department were dispatched to Pisgah View Apartments in West Asheville regarding several calls of shots being fired in the vicinity of the 39 Building.

Upon arrival, officers located Lavar Ahkeem Bailey, a 28 year old male from that apartment, who was unconscious and apparently the victim of a gunshot wound.

Mr. Bailey was transported by EMS to Mission Hospital where he was pronounced dead.  Detectives are investigating the circumstances of his death which has been determined to be a Homicide.

    When will Gene Bell and David Nash take some accountability and SHOW SOME LEADERSHIP at the housing authority ? They NEVER try to alleviate problems in public housing. They should be embarrassed to show their faces anywhere in AVL – everyday…they are shameful NON leaders. CALL for their resignations and ACCOUNTABILITY to the TAXPAYERS ! ! !
