APD seeking assistance to locate gunman who fired into local neighborhood

Press release from Asheville Police Department:

CORRECTION (October 13, 2021): The correct date and time officers responded to the area of Governors View and Pinehurst Road for gun discharge is October 8th, 2021 at 11:15 pm. Officers returned the following morning of October 9th, 2021 to take reports for the damage that occurred.

The Asheville Police Department is asking for the public’s help in finding the person or persons who fired gunshots into the garage of an occupied home and several vehicles.

On October 9th, 2021 at 10:16 PM officers responded to the area of Governors View and Pinehurst Road for gun discharge. Officers recovered 13 9mm shell casings on Pinehurst Road. No one was injured during the incident. A home surveillance camera recorded audio of the shots fired.

Detectives are investigating this incident, but need your help. If you would like to anonymously share information about this incident you can text TIP2APD to 847411, or use the TIP2APD smartphone app. You can also share information by calling 828-252-1110.

Since January 1, 2021, the Asheville Police Department has responded to 432 calls for service reporting shots fired or someone being shot. In addition, 27 people have been shot in Asheville and 423 shell casings have been collected this year.
