APD seeking public assistance on recent shooting

Asheville Police Department Detectives are investigating a shooting that took place early Monday evening in west Asheville, leaving one man injured.

APD Patrol Officers responded to reports of gunshots at the 200 block of Deaverview Road around 5:55 p.m. Sept. 12. When officers arrived on scene, they found a male victim who had been shot. He was transported to Mission Hospital by Buncombe County EMS with non-life-threatening injuries.

APD’s Criminal Investigations Division Detectives and Forensic Technicians also arrived on scene to conduct their investigation.

Detectives are working to identify a possible suspect and are asking anyone who may have information about the case to send an anonymous tip by texting TIP2APD to 847411. Since January 1, 2022, the Asheville Police Department has responded to 350 calls for service reporting shots fired or someone being shot. There have been 31 people confirmed shot in Asheville this year.
