APD seeking public’s help: one man shot after gunman fires into occupied homes

News release from Asheville Police Department:

Asheville Police are investigating shots that were fired shortly after midnight, damaging two occupied homes, and leaving one man with minor injuries.

APD Patrol Officers were dispatched around 12:32 a.m to the 4 block of Stewart Street after receiving reports that two occupied residences were shot into. Shortly after officers arrived, one man approached officers to report he had been shot and was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

APD investigators are asking for the public’s help with any information about this shooting. If you would like to anonymously share information you can text TIP2APD to 847411, or use the TIP2APD smartphone app. You can also share information by calling 828-252-1110.

Since January 1, 2022, the Asheville Police Department has responded to 52 incidents of confirmed shots fired, in 9 of those incidents, 17 have been hit by a bullet.
