APD seeks assistance to locate Perry Douglas McAfee

Press release from Asheville Police Department:

At approximately 12:30 a.m. on October 11, the Asheville Police Department (APD) responded to Harry’s on the Hill (819 Patton Avenue) regarding a breaking and entering in progress. The officers arrived to find that a suspect had used a vehicle to force their way through a fence and onto the property, and had damaged a number of vehicles and other property once inside. The suspect was then able to steal a GMC SUV that he used to flee the scene just prior to the officers arriving on the scene. 

A subsequent investigation led to the recovery of the stolen SUV and the identification of the offender a short time later. Perry Douglas McAfee, 52, of Asheville has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Breaking and entering
  • Breaking and entering a motor vehicle
  • Larceny after breaking and entering
  • Misdemeanor hit and run
  • Injury to real property 
  • Injury to personal property (4 counts)

The APD is seeking the assistance of the public to locate McAfee and safely bring him into custody. He is described as an African-American male, 52 years old, 5’10” tall, approximately 250 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. McAfee has a tattoo on his left arm of “Coley High,” and one on his right arm of “Karen & Perry.” McAfee was last known to live in south Asheville. 

This incident and several other similar incidents of breaking and entering within the city limits remain under investigation. If anyone has information regarding the whereabouts of McAfee or information concerning these cases, they are encouraged to contact the APD at 828-252-1110.
