News release from the Asheville Police Department:
Asheville Police are investigating an early Saturday morning shooting in which someone shot multiple rounds into two occupied west Asheville homes and an unoccupied vehicle. Thankfully, no one was injured; only property damage has been reported at this time.
APD patrol officers responded to the 40 block of Huffman Road to investigate reports of gun discharge around 2:12 a.m. on Sept. 23. When officers arrived, the suspect was no longer on the scene. Officers located two combined residences and a vehicle struck by gunfire. While canvassing the area, officers located 16 9mm Luger shell casings.
APD detectives are asking for the public’s help. If anyone has any information about this incident, you are encouraged to contact APD at (828) 252-1110. Since January 1, 2023, the Asheville Police Department has responded to 389 calls for service reporting shots fired or someone being shot. In addition, 25 people have been shot in Asheville this year. So far, officers and forensic technicians have recovered 499 shell casings from these crime scenes.
