APD seeks help finding missing woman

Full announcement from the Asheville Police Department:

ASHEVILLE – On Tuesday, 05-09-12, at approx. 6:30 pm; Officers with the Asheville Police Department responded to the station and met with the parents of Jasmin Nicole Melton of Burnsville. The parents advised that they wanted to report her missing after not hearing from her since 05-08-12 at approx. 3:48 pm.

The parents had been notified by UNCA Campus police that their daughter’s car was located abandoned at 151 W.T. Weaver Blvd., and that officers had found her car keys and locks of hair in the vehicle. After checking her residence in Burnsville, the parents located a note indicating that Ms. Melton was dealing with a lot of issues in her life and that she wanted to “disappear”.

Investigators with the APD have since learned that she may have possibly been seen at the Dripolator Coffee Shop on Broadway on Monday, 05-08-12 at approx. 9:00 pm; where she was believed to have asked for a cigarette, and made statements about wanting to “get away”.

New information also suggests that her debit card had been utilized as late as Tuesday, 05-09-12 at 07:22 am; at the Hotspot on Leicester Hwy in West Asheville.

Ms. Melton is described as a 22 year old white female, approx 5’1” in height, with a small build and approx. 100 pounds. She has dark brown hair and dark brown eyes. She also usually wears open heel shoes, and has a piercing in her nose.

Anyone with information as to Ms. Melton’s whereabouts is asked to call APD Communications at 252-1110 or text a tip to APDTIP at 274637 (CRIMES).
