Argument ends in gunshot wound, police seek public’s help to locate suspect

An argument between two men ended with one man getting shot. Officers responded to Granada Street on October 19 at 7:01 p.m. to find a pool of blood on the sidewalk. They located the victim who was transported to Mission Hospital for injuries that are not life-threatening.

The Asheville Police Department is asking the public’s help to find the man responsible who goes by the nickname “Ratchet.” He has been described as a thin Black male last seen wearing a dark-colored beanie and light acid-washed jeans.

Detectives are investigating this incident and need your help. If you would like to anonymously share information you can text TIP2APD to 847411, or use the TIP2APD smartphone app. You can also share information by calling 828-252-1110.

Since January 1, 2021, the Asheville Police Department has responded to 489 calls for service reporting shots fired or someone being shot. In addition, 42 people have been shot in Asheville this year.
