Asheville Art Museum celebrates International Museum Day, May 18

Celebrate International Museum Day at the Asheville Art Museum

FREE Admission + Programs on Wednesday, May 18, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Along with over 35,000 museums around the world, the Asheville Art Museum is excited to participate in International Museum Day on May 18. Organized each May 18 since 1977, International Museum Day aims to raise awareness of the value of museums in the community. To celebrate, the Asheville Art Museum is offering FREE admission to the galleries, as well as the following programs:

Art Break, 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. Visitors are invited to attend a free art talk as part of the Make It Speak: Stories from the Vault series. The Asheville Art Museum curator and guest speakers will lead a discussion about the Museum’s Vault Visible exhibition that delves behind the scenes into the Museum’s storage vaults and explores the processes of inventory, curation and conservation.

Family Day in the Studio, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Families are invited to participate in free hands-on art activities in the Museum Studio. All supplies is provided and children of all ages are welcome with an adult.

Make It Yours Listening Session, 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. The Asheville Art Museum is pleased to present this free Make It Yours listening session and encourages community members to become a part of the creation of the new Asheville Art Museum.
